Rockwood's 6 Practices Coaching is designed to enhance the effectiveness of its training program and empower social justice leaders. Coaching provides support to movement leaders’ who seek to explore and deepen their inner relationship while they contemplate, experience, and/or create strategies to implement and actualize these practices. We have developed educational literature to increase coaching literacy for leaders who may be new to coaching. This literature is designed to clarify the coaching process, set appropriate expectations, and maximize the benefit of the coaching experience for all participants
Coaching provides a structured and focused environment for individual growth, allowing leaders to explore their potential and achieve specific goals.
Coaching supports leaders in navigating challenges, enhancing decision-making skills, and fostering personal and professional development.
Coaching focuses on unlocking a person's potential to maximize their own performance and deepen their practice. It is generally short-term and task-based.
Mentoring involves a long-term relationship focused on supporting the growth and development of the mentee. The mentor is usually more experienced and provides guidance, advice, and support.
Coaching is forward-looking, focusing on goal achievement and personal or professional development. It does not address psychological issues.
Therapy (or counseling) is typically oriented towards healing and understanding past traumas or psychological patterns. It is conducted by licensed professionals.
